Community Outreach – Volunteer Opportunities

At Webster UCC we welcome all community members to volunteer with our programs.  Whether you are looking for an ongoing commitment or a one-time activity, we invite you to join us in serving our larger Webster and Rochester community. All activities can be adapted for individuals, families, or small groups.  Sign-off is available for students who need community service validation.

Baber Hot Lunch – one Saturday a month, we prepare and serve a free hot lunch to anyone in need.

Where: Baber AME Church, Meigs St.

When: 4th Saturday of each month, approx. 10:30 – 1:00

Description of activity: Volunteers assist with preparing the meal, setting up, welcoming guests, serving the food, and clean-up

WUCC Community Garden – Support the raised beds where we raise various vegetables that are donated to Webster Hope and distributed through our own outdoor pantry

Where: Webster UCC, 570 Klem Rd.

When – Spring through fall, flexible schedule

Description of Activity: Help is needed for all phases of gardening – weeding, watering, and harvesting.

Pet Food Pantry – The Pet Food Pantry provides dog and cat food to pet owners in need.  Requests are received through the Pantry’s Facebook page and filled once or twice a week.

Where: Webster UCC, 570 Klem Rd.

When – year round, flexible schedule

Description of Activity: Help keep the pantry organized and fill orders for our clients. We also welcome individuals or groups to organize pet food drives.

Outdoor Giving Pantries – There are two outdoor pantries at the church – one for food and the other for non-food items.  The non-food pantry rotates items seasonally – such as books, summer activities, sneakers, school supplies, etc.

Where: Webster UCC, 570 Klem Rd.

When – year round, flexible schedule

Description of Activity: Help keep the pantry organized. We also welcome individuals or groups to organize food drives or collection of items for the non-food pantry..

Milestones Ministry – The Daniel Gerard Milestones Ministry helps families celebrate special events like birthdays, graduations, the beginning of school and holidays with gifts, supplies, and even all the ingredients for birthday cakes!  We partner with Rochester Advocates for Children, a group of grandparents in Rochester who are raising their grandchildren as well as distributing through other channels.
